How to Start Recycling_

While starting to recycle may seem difficult, it may suprise you how simple it is to get started. The first step in recycling is committing to it. Recycling only works if you make it a permenant part of your life. With that decision made, the following steps can help you get started:

Pick your Material(s)

Just because you start recycling, it doesn’t mean you have to go all out to begin with. It is better to pace yourself and build recycling into your routine.

Trying to figure out what can be recycled is intimidating, and when you have so many materials it can deter you from starting. We recommend you start with one or two materials. That way you can learn about what you can and can’t recycle.

Don’t get overwhelmed! Paper is a really easy place to start. In Knoxville and surrounding areas, mixed paper recycling is available. This means that if it’s paper, then you can throw it in.

As you get comfortable with your system, you can add more materials. Don’t get discouraged. Every little bit helps.

Fish, you can recycle old batteries at Batteries Plus. Please visit their site at http://www.batteriesplus.com/ for details. The local store is just off of Cedar Bluff in front of Best Buy.
