Community Education

Our program is committed to community based education, helping people find practical ways to recycle and sustainable practices. We offer many resources for the community, and if you have an idea for a new one, please, feel free to suggest it.

A great way to become involved in community education is by becoming a member of the KRC. The fees collected from members help provide for education events and presentations and even sponsors this site.

Educational services we offer:

>> Event recycling bins for loan
>> Recycling Guides and other Recycling handouts
>> Apartment Recycling pamphlets
>> Help setting up recycling at your location
>> Presentations on recycling- for all ages
>> Presence at your local event with a display and information
>> Suggestions on how to increase recycling
>> Recycling activities for groups

Library

The KRC has added a new tool to its education program. Using resources already available and adding new ones, we have created a community library. It will be housed in the KRC’s office on Vandeventer Ave. just off of Sutherland Ave.

If you need information for a paper or presentation, give us a call to arrange a time to come in and use the library. We have information pertaining to recycling, as well as other sustainable literature.

Members of the Coalition will be allowed to check the resources out for a limited amount of time. Guests are welcome to use the resources in our library but are not permitted to remove them from the premises.

Some of the current titles and resources include:
>> Reuses: 2,133 Ways to Recycles and Reuse
>> 50 Simple Things Your Business can do to Save the World
>> Manufacturing: With Reused and Recycled Materials
>> Backyard Composting
>> Affluenza (a PBS documentary on consumerism)

Our selection is limited at this time, but we are adding new titles and hoping to receive more from donations. To donate a resource or money for the library, please call us at 865.525.9694 or send us an email.
