Medication and Thermometer Collection

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Residents will have the opportunity to discard unwanted and expired prescriptions and over the counter medicines in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner on July 18th from 9am until 1pm at the Earth Fare in Bearden. The medication packaging will be recycled. Participants will be provided markers to mark over personal information.

The goal of the collection is to prevent these pharmaceutical and over-the-counter products from getting into the water supply – or into the hands of children – and to make sure they are disposed of in a safe, environmentally-conscious way.

The Medication Collection is part of an ongoing, nationwide effort to reduce the amount of drugs and over the counter products that are entering water systems from going down the drain.
