STYROFOAM RECYCLING
**** UPDATE: 5/17/2012 – We can no longer accept food grade polystyrene due to contamination/processing issues (if you have already filled a bag with it, we will still accept it) ****
Dear Knoxville residents,
Your days of packaging guilt are over.
#6 PLASTIC (POLYSTYRENE… commonly known as Styrofoam) can now be recycled!!
Here’s a quick guide as to how it will work:
Step One: Buy a bag from KRC for just $5 for a 100gal bag.
Step Two: Fill it up with your #6 plastics (NO FOOD GRADE). We ask that you take “peanuts” to your local mail center; however, we can also accept them.
Step Three: Bring it back to KRC, where we will compress it into a teeny, tiny block and recycle it!
Step Four: See Step One; Rinse, and Repeat.
Hope to see you (and your big bag of recyclable foam) very soon,
Knoxville Recycling Coalition
