Come join Earth Fare and its partner EarthFest, Knoxville’s Earth Day Event, for a used household mercury thermometer exchange conducted by the City’s Solid Waste Office. Bring in a used household mercury thermometer and receive a free digital thermometer.

Learn how to reduce your carbon footprint from local environmental groups on site such as Keep Knoxville Beautiful, Ijams Nature Center, Knoxville Recycling Coalition, Tennessee Valley Earth Partnership, City of Knoxville Adopt-A-Park, Keep Blount Beautiful, Knox County Solid Waste Office, Waste Connections, Water Quality Forum and others.

Up in Smoke? What to do with that old Detector!

What a dilemna! Everyone has smoke detectors, but no one knows how to dispose of them! While the typical answer is to take it to the HouseholdĀ  Hazardous Waste site nearest to your home, the center serving Knox County residents does not accept them.
