ARD Celebration [updated with pictures]

Check out pictures from where we celebrated America Recycles Day in Downtown Knoxville on Friday, Nov. 14

Knoxville’s version of America Recycles Day took place on Friday, November 14 from 11am-2pm on Market Square in downtown Knoxville. America Recycles Day occurs annually on a national basis with the goal of enhancing public awareness about the importance of recycling as well providing information about local recycling opportunities.

Our tent at the ARD event.

The participating organizations for this event-Alcoa, the Knoxville Recycling Coalition, City of Knoxville, Knox County, Keep Knoxville Beautiful, University of Tennessee, and Waste Connections– provided helpful information about ways people can start recycling into their daily lives, how each organization plays a part in community recycling, and why it’s worthwhile to squeeze recycling into your busy lifestyles.

There were opportunities to win a shiny, new recycling bin by signing a pledge card to signify your commitment to increase recycling habits at home and work. More will be available at a later date. Among the helpful recycling material available for you at the event were KRC’s latest edition of the recycling guide, which provides a wealth of information on local recycling opportunities.
